In short

  • Nationally, you pay on average around €31 to €77 per m² for a PVC floor including installation (source: Werkspot price guide, August 2026).
  • Levelling often comes on top: on average €12.50 to €45 per m², depending on the subfloor.
  • A herringbone pattern costs more than straight planks because of extra cutting and offcut waste.
  • The exact price depends on subfloor, material, pattern and area — you only know it after measuring.

Average prices per m²

Werkspot, a large Dutch platform for tradespeople, publishes a national price guide. According to that guide, the average cost of a PVC floor including installation is between €31 and €77 per m². The difference lies mainly in the installation method and the pattern:

Type of PVC floor (incl. installation)Average per m²
Glued (dryback) PVC, straight planks€34 – €59
Glued PVC in a pattern (e.g. herringbone)€43 – €68
Click PVC, straight planks€31 – €64
Click PVC in a pattern€44 – €77

Note: these are averages. A floor with many corners, doors or a staircase takes more time than one rectangular room.

What does floor levelling cost?

A glued PVC floor needs a flat subfloor, and with click PVC levelling is often needed too. The cost mainly depends on what is currently there:

SubfloorLevelling, average per m²
Sand-cement screed€12.50
Anhydrite screed€14
Tiled floor€18
Wooden floor€45
Average rates from the Werkspot price guide (August 2026).

A wooden floor is more expensive because it often needs a different build-up than levelling compound alone. With tiles, the joints and height differences must be filled first. Read more about subfloor requirements in How flat should a floor be for PVC?.

What makes up the price?

  • Material — the quality and thickness of the wear layer, the design and the pattern. Herringbone PVC is usually more expensive as a material than straight planks.
  • Preparation — removing the old floor, sanding away adhesive residue, priming and levelling.
  • Installation — straight planks are quicker than a pattern. The shape of the room matters too: many corners, alcoves and doors mean more cutting.
  • Finishing — skirting boards, transition profiles at doors and sealing.
  • Extras — for example a stair renovation or a made-to-measure entrance mat.

Worked example: a 40 m² living room

Say you want a glued PVC floor with straight planks in a 40 m² living room with a sand-cement screed. Based on national averages, you arrive at roughly:

ItemCalculationEstimate
Glued PVC, incl. installation40 m² × €34 – €59€1,360 – €2,360
Levelling a cement screed40 m² × €12.50€500
Total (excl. skirting)€1,860 – €2,860

If you choose herringbone, the price per m² is higher. Skirting boards, removing an old floor and any extras come on top.

Why the subfloor makes the biggest difference

Two living rooms of the same size can differ considerably in price. With a flat, dry cement screed little preparation is needed. If there is old adhesive, tiles or a wooden floor, preparation takes more time and material. That is why a fair price is only possible after inspecting the subfloor.

How to save without compromising on quality

  • Torn between herringbone and straight? Straight planks are more affordable and timeless too. Also read Herringbone or straight planks?
  • Have several rooms done in one go: one planning and less set-up and travel time.
  • Is your subfloor already flat and dry? Then click PVC can sometimes go down without levelling — discuss it during the inspection.
  • Never economise on the subfloor: a cheap floor on a poor base will creak, gap or come loose sooner.

What does a 100 m² PVC floor cost?

Based on Werkspot’s national guide prices (€31 – €77 per m² including installation), 100 m² comes to roughly €3,100 to €7,700, excluding levelling and skirting boards. The exact price depends on the subfloor, the material and the pattern.

What does a PVC floor cost including levelling?

Add the cost of levelling to the price of the floor including installation: on average €12.50 to €45 per m², depending on the subfloor. Levelling a cement screed is the most affordable, a wooden floor the most expensive.

Is click PVC cheaper than glued PVC?

The prices per m² overlap. On a flat existing subfloor click PVC can sometimes go down without levelling, which saves money. Glued PVC always needs a level subfloor, but is quieter and more stable.

Is levelling included in the price as standard?

That differs per company. Our quote always states exactly which preparation is needed, so you won’t face surprises.
